Harmony

Harmony in our daily round is about the balance of solitude, creativity, work, responsibility, play, friends, and family.

Your balancing point may be different than someone else's. Balancing all of these pieces will require different choices at varying points in life.  Sometimes more responsibility and less creativity is required; sometimes we are called to put aside our own desires to take care of someone else.  There are also times that we can say no to the demands of the world and do what we desire.   There is a time and a season for everything under the heavens, that is true.  We need to listen closely to our higher selves to determine the what and when for all of these things.

There are many pieces to juggle and only inside yourself can you find this balance. The important point is that we look inside ourselves and make our choices based on what our own deepest needs and desires are.  In the balancing, we should consider, to be sure, what the world is demanding of us, but we should not be driven by the demands that lie outside of us. I am not advocating a completely anxiety free or pain free life by "just doing what feels good".  That isn't listening  for your authenticity, that is listening to the selfish one inside.

For instance, when we have children at home, sometimes there are responsibilities that can not wait.  Sometimes we are called to care for someone who needs our help, we are called to unselfish love for others, for me this is integral to balance.

When I was younger, I barely heard my higher self.  My inner self was not differentiated too much from what others wanted from me.  I often felt depleted by demands because I was not making choices based on my inner compass. I didn't even know where my inner compass was!

Spending some time in solitude, listening to our higher selves is so imperative.  Pay attention in quiet times to what you feel called to, sort it out.  Know that if you are guided by love, that is love for yourself as well as others, you are listening to your higher self.

Given the generation I grew up in and the background that I had, harmony in my life has been a learning experience that has spanned several decades. I am actually grateful for the journey.
