Ordinary Time

My heart longs to be outside,
My body aches for the sun and the cold
     and so I go,
Out to where the lake is frozen with
     snow on top.
It is so bright and crisp that I wonder why
it took me so long to get here?

I walk, feeling the snow crunch under my feet,
     careful of my footing.
The sky is that deep cerulean blue that cuts through my senses,
and I am grateful to be alive.

My eyes fill up with tears as I consider how blessed I am,
how lucky I am to be right here, right now.
I say "I love You, and thank you"to the God
who made all of this, and the
One who gave me the desire to come out here this afternoon.

This is a gift of  the extraordinary kind on an ordinary day,
     in ordinary time.

I hear the wind blowing through the pine trees and imagine
it is speaking to me a wisdom that I can hear on a soul level.
I feel comforted by this beckoning  to me-- an answer
to my prayer of love and gratitude.

In an instant I grasp
     that the
Universe was made for me in this moment
     and
Love is everywhere around me.
